Raven Sculpture

Something about ravens, they are captivating, mysterious, intelligent and beautiful. I had fun making this bird, when you see what the raven can do, it's frighteningly amazing, they are so smart!!!
I also see the raven as a symbol of strength, the watchful eye, the protector.

In the next picture, I put the Whip-Poor-Will next to the raven. The Whip-Poor-Will is a night creature, rarely seen because it hides in the daytime. I love these two together.

Warthog, a face a mother could love.

Well, as you can see i love unusual creatures, I find it very gratifying to make something that looks weird. The features are sculpted and carved, the tile measures 8"X8" and about 1 1/2" thick at the nose.

I love making birds....

Something about birds, they represent freedom to me, I love to look at them and observe their behavior. Sculpting birds is very rewarding it's the next best thing to holding one, when I sculpt my subject I work from a picture, I imagine what the bird is doing and give it life, I love this process.
This is a wren I sculpted, I was attracted to this bird for it's unusual way the tail goes up.
